UNDP

UNDP is the UN's global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our wide range of partners.

The UNDP Rwanda Country Office is working with the Government and other partners to respond to development challenges that Rwanda and the world are facing today. All our programmes and activities in different areas of development respond to the challenges facing the country to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), including the overarching goal of cutting poverty in half by 2015.

Our assistance framework is guided with the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and the UNDP Country Cooperation Framework (CCF), both aligned with the priorities of the government of Rwanda as identified in the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) and the Vision 2020 of Rwanda. The assistance of UNDP in Rwanda is focused around five major practice areas namely:

• Democratic Governance
• Poverty Reduction
• Crisis Prevention and Recovery
• Energy and Environment
• HIV/AIDS

UNDP Rwanda also helps the host country to attract and use aid effectively. In addition to the areas mentioned above, UNDP Rwanda integrates in all its programmes and activities the protection of human rights, the empowerment of women and the promotion of the Information and Communication Technologies.
